One Year Later

Well, a lot has changed in one year. Sometimes I marvel at how God has directed me over the last year. I am so thankful for what he has done in my life. There were times of intense trial which forced me to trust Him and learn more about how to surrender my life to him. Looking back, I thank God for using the difficult times to round off the rough edges in my life to reveal more of his likeness.
In April I organized a trip for dad, Sheldon and I to go to Mississippi with the Mennonite Disaster Service. Together we enjoyed framing a house and ministering to an older man who lost his house in hurricane Katrina. Over the same time I took a class called “Discovery”. While in the class I learned more about the next steps He wanted me to take. It is so cool how God reveals things to us. Later in the year I took another class focused on experiencing the Glory of God through disciplined lives. Again he met me and showed me more of his plan for my life as I seek his face. He is so faithful! In October he led me to start working fulltime with MDS at the headquarters in Akron as the Project Logistics Coordinator. I am responsible for all of the “stuff” (vehicles, tools, equipment, etc) to keep the projects operating efficiently. The spring and summer months were full of fun adventures with a great group of friends. We are a pretty unique mix which makes camping, canoeing, kayaking, beaching, surfing, horseback riding, serving with MDS, and much more; so enjoyable. Through these friends I developed a close friendship with Jenny Warner. It was really cool how God helped us develop a friendship and led us to start dating in August. I am so blessed to be on this amazing journey with her. We are trusting God to lead us as we surrender our lives to him. I can’t begin to imagine where God will lead me to by this time next year.

Last January was the first I had met this really amazing young woman. From the first time we talked I was intrigued by her and secretly held her in a special place in my heart. Her heart to serve and honor God in all she does really touches my heart. She is like no other girl I have met. Our friendship has grown and continues to increase as God leads us and guides us. We have had a lot of adventures in the last 5 months and are excited for what lies ahead. It is truly a blessing to be on this adventure with Jenny as we live our lives to honor and praise God in all we do. He has blessed us with such joy together. This past month Jenny has been in Ethiopia and India. This time that we have been separated has drawn us closer and forced us to grow in our faith too. God's grace is enough for us. We thank him for bringing us together. We feel God has an incredible plan for our lives together. It is humbling to hear how many of our friends and family all over the world are praying for us as we journey together. Thank you for your prayers. We are so Blessed!

"Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come."
